The Valdez spilled 11 million gallons of crude oil in Prince William Sound,effecting 1100 miles of shoreline.It was proven that the captain was drunk and should not have been sailing the vessel.It destroyed wildlife and created a financial loss for all in that area.The Exxon company got off easy and had to pay a pittance of $900 million in a financial settlement.Obviously oil tankers should not be allowed to travel in the arctic areas.
