Steffi Graf was a great player.She has the honor of winning 22 woman’s singles grand slams, a feat that no player has achieved until now. However Martina Navratilova was a far greater player than Steffi Graf. Martina won 18 woman’s singles grand slams,31 woman’s doubles grand slams( all time record), and 10 mixed doubles grand slams. She was from communist Czechoslovakia and in 1975 at the age of 18 sought political asylum in USA. However she was granted temporary residency.Ultimately she became a US citizen in 1981.She retired from professional tennis at a very mature age in 2006. She reached the Wimbledon finals 12 times, including 9 consecutive years from 1982 thru 1990 and won the Wimbledon woman’s singles finals a record 9 times.She won 20 Wimbledon titles in singles and doubles, a world record.
