Who wants to lay odds on whether that guest-host has ever engaged in “sodomy” his own self?
The American “right” is a thinly veiled front for a sort of white tribalism (specifically white Protestant tribalism). Abandoned long ago- were all the principles that used to animate the right – limited government, small government, state’s rights, belief in free markets . . . and this has been replaced by tribal paranoia and fear (which has always been a major animating component of the American right but which is now- the only animating component). Now, this isn’t to say that this white tribalism doesn’t still use the old rhetoric about small and limited government and belief in free markets and liberty and so forth but after 8 years of Bush expanding executive power without a peep from the mainstream “right” in this country- with 8 years of deficit spending and reckless expansion of government programs in all sectors- that the right fiercely defensd as itself being “conservative”- the sudden embrace of the old principles with the election of Obama stand as hollow.
