Who usually competes at a swim meet?
The Pirates are members of the Vancouver and District Region of the British Columbia Summer Swim Association (BCSSA). There are five active clubs in the Vancouver and District Region: the North Shore Winter Club Marlins, the North Vancouver Cruisers, the Vancouver Super Sharks, the Vancouver Vikings and the Squamish Pirates. Clubs from other regions may compete in meets in our region and our club travels to other regions to compete as well. The BCSSA exists to promote, encourage and develop an individual’s capacity to achieve excellence and life skills through participation in competitive aquatic activities. There are over 6,500 registered athletes; over 200 coaches; and over 5,000 volunteers who contribute over 100,000 hours to the youth of British Columbia. There are over 70 active clubs across British Columbia and one from Washington state.
