Answer During the Mex-American War, “The Invaders” were the US Army. The Mexican Army was defeated several times during the war, but did not surrender until Mexico City was occupied. After that, the army was disarmed, but noone continued to attack them, so I do not know what you are referring to. The only thing that you may be referring to is the San Patricio Batallion. These were mainly Irishmen (and other Europeans) who saw the war as unjust and also had a problem with attacking a Catholic country since they were Catholics. They deserted the US Army and formed a batallion in the Mexican Army and fought throughout the war, and many were hanged by the US for it.
