Who tops the record books as Europes oldest living man?
by – retroglide – on October 30th, 2007 Henry Allingham (born 6 June 1896) has been the oldest surviving British veteran of the First World War since 20 July 2003 upon the death of then 108-year-old Jack Davis. He is also believed to be Britain’s longest-lived member of the armed forces since George Frederick Ives died in 1993 at age 111, and Britain’s oldest living man. On 13 February 2007, he became the UK’s second-oldest living person, behind Florrie Baldwin, now 111, when fellow 111-year-old Aida Mason died. He is currently Europe’s oldest man. He is the last survivor of the Battle of Jutland, the last surviving member of the RNAS and the last surviving founding member of the RAF. Allingham credits “cigarettes, whisky and wild, wild women — and a good sense of humour” for his longevity http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Allingham Comments Thanks Report by Highlander is semi-retired from AB on October 30th, 2007 Add a comment…
