Who thinks Romeo & Juliet is the best literature ever written?
The story of Romeo and Juliet as beautiful and tragic, and I appreciate it for that, however, in my opinion, it is not the best literature. I don’t think one can easily say anything is ever the best. I loved reading Emma or The Great Gatsby or The Princess Bride too. It’s a question of taste, and what we can, or want to relate to. Perhaps the person whosend this message to you could relate to the plight of these two tragic lovers, but again, that is one opinion, and should hardly affect how you feel or think about literature.
Romeo and Juliet is a beautiful Shakespearian piece, as are many others. My personal favourite is MacBeth. Just because you don´t appreciate certain literature doesn´t mean it entitles you to slander what you don´t understand. There are many pieces of literature I don´t associate myself with but I have my own way of expressing myself and yet must admit that without the previous writers of our time we wouldn´t be the writers we are today.
