Who The Hell Is Stevie Nicks?
If you are under 30 or so, you may not know who she is. She is the frontwoman for the pop/rock group Fleetwood Mac and a successful solo artist. She was born Stephanie Nicks in 1948 and always dreamed of being a rock star. Her wish, though she wouldn’t know it until about a year later, came true when she joined Fleetwood Mac with then boyfriend Lindsey Buckingham in 1974. Stevie and Lindsey had released an album titled Buckingham Nicks in 1972 but it failed to produce any hits and they were dropped by their record label. Fleetwood Mac hit paydirt with several top-selling albums in the 1970’s and 1980’s, including the mega-popular album Rumours. Stevie went solo in 1981 but also stayed with Fleetwood Mac. She has said that she went solo not to upstage or break away from Fleetwood Mac but to have more of an outlet for the many songs she had written.
