Who Teaches LME?
Classes are taught by local pastors and qualified church musicians. Instructors, while thoroughly grounded in their fields, provide extremely practical, down-to-earth instruction. The curricula have been developed by some of our Synod’s finest church musicians and theologians: Dr. Philip Gehring, Valparaiso University (Service Playing); Dr. Ralph Schultz, Concordia University, Bronxville (Introduction to the Church Choir, Conducting the Church Choir); Judy Thompson, Hartland, Mich. (Introduction to Children’s Choirs); Dr. Kent Burreson, Concordia Seminary, St. Louis (History and Meaning of the Divine Service); Dr. Carl Schalk, Concordia University, River Forest (Surveying the Church’s Song, and Singing Hymns in the Congregational Setting); Dr. Scott Bruzek, Wheaton, Ill. (Theology of Worship); Mark Bender, Des Peres, Mo. (Church Year and Worship Planning); and Nancy Jessup, Concordia University Irvine (Working with Handbells). Thus, LME seeks to provide the best our Synod has to offer
