Who Takes CLEP?
Although students of all ages take CLEP exams, more than half of CLEP candidates are older than traditional college age. CLEP gives these students the ability to receive credit for knowledge acquired outside the classroom. A majority of CLEP test-takers say they take CLEP exams to save money or save time in completing their educations, or simply to allow themselves to focus on their majors or advanced course work. CLEP exam-takers include: Adults returning to college or attending for the first time—Learn more about advising adult students. Military service members and veterans—CLEP exams are free for active-duty military service members; veterans may be reimbursed by the Department of Veterans Affairs for CLEP exam and administration fees.
