Who supports the Ecusta Trail?
We, the undersigned, hereby petition that the elected governments of Transylvania County, Henderson County, the Town of Laurel Park and the Cities of Hendersonville and Brevard individually and jointly request that the State of North Carolina take action to acquire the Norfolk & Southern discontinued rail corridor linking Henderson and Transylvania Counties. The purpose would be to develop a state regional trail along such corridor for bicycling, pedestrian and other non-motorized uses and at the same time preserving the rail corridor for possible future rail traffic. The City of Hendersonville passed a resolution in support of the Trail on May 7, 2009. The Village of Flat Rock passed a resolution in support of the Trail on May 14, 2009. The Town of Laurel Park passed a resolution in support of the Trail on May 19, 2009. The Henderson County Chamber of Commerce voted to support the Trail on May 11,2009 17.
