Who supplies the sparring gear? Do I need to buy gear?
There is gear available for students to use during sparring at no cost. I own some of this gear, and keep it on hand for student use. The Fort Atkinson Parks and Recreation program also purchases gear, which we loan to students for sparring. Parents need to provide personal protection gear for their children (groin protection, mouth guard). If parents or students want to buy sparring gear (helmets, gloves, shin and foot protection), they can find it on e-Bay for much reduced costs or any number of online suppliers. A complete set of gear ranges from $55 to $125 or more.
