Who Suffers from Withdrawal Symptoms?
Any individual who has become addicted to a narcotic can fall victim to withdrawal symptoms. These symptoms occur either in a supervised detox program (when the individual has made the conscious choice to receive addiction treatment) or in the midst of an addiction, when the individual is searching for their next dose of the drug in question. Withdrawal symptoms effect both men and women as well as the young and the elderly. How an individual “deals” with their withdrawal symptoms is determined by their mental state, physical condition and genetic makeup. For these reasons, no two sets of withdrawal symptoms are alike, and each must be treated by a medical professional on a case-by-case basis.
