Depends on how you define early. The earliest churches that are around and have viability as Christian were not until well into the 4th and 5th centuries with various churches and cathedrals. It predominately sprung from the institutional creativity of the Roman and Orthodox churches. Each has unique elements to their architecture, but both owe a lot to the Romans and Etrustcans.
