Who sponsors the JVI?
The five founding organizations of the JVI are the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). The World Trade organization (WTO) became the sixth sponsoring organization in 1998. The Austrian authorities (the Oesterreichische Nationalbank and the Ministry of Finance) are also members of the JVI. The IMF and the Austrian authorities are Primary Members of the JVI, and share equally in the operating costs of the JVI. The Austrian authorities also provide the physical facilities and equipment to the JVI. Other sponsoring organizations contribute to the operating costs of the JVI in a manner that is proportionate to their use of the JVI facilities.
