Who SHOULDNT have a rat?
Ah, the question of “Is a rat for me?” is important. I love the little critters and couldn’t imagine life without them, but no pet is for everyone… Rat is NOT the pets for you if: ~You cannot spend an hour every day playing and talking with them. ~You don’t have the space for at least a 15 gallon aquarium or 2 cubic feet wire cage. ~You have a cat or dog with high prey drive and can’t keep them separate from the room with the cage. ~You aren’t willing to or can’t litterbox train and/or clean the cage once a week. ~You want an animal that lives more than three years. ~You do not know about their needs and health problems involving food, bedding, and housing. ~Your landlord, roommate, or parents (if you live with them) won’t allow it. ~You think they are ugly. ~You refuse to let go of all the common misconceptions about them involving filth, disease, and aggression. ~You want a guard animal. (Rats don’t even have a warning noise and like all people, even strangers.) ~You have an aversi
