Who should use Co-Q10?
Current theory suggests that, without supplementation, each one of us is becoming increasingly deficient in Co-Q10, and that between 60 – 100 milligrams daily is required to maintain optimum levels. Between 6 – 20 milligrams of Co-Q10 is obtained from food or manufactured within the body; far short of the ideal level. The ‘statin’ types of cholesterol-lowering drugs deplete Co-Q10 even more. The most common deficiency occurs in the heart and Co-Q10 has been used for heart disease and frequently recommended by cardiologists, as it makes the cells in the heart operate more efficiently. Not only will the heart benefit from Co-Q10 supplementation, but also as each cell becomes more efficient at producing energy, each muscle and organ functions more effectively. The ripple effect is that many diseases and medical conditions tend to ease or disappear. Sports people, and especially endurance athletes, have benefited from Co-Q10 for many years now.
