Who Should Telecommute?
Telecommuting is not right for everyone. If your company is going to offer a telecommuting benefit, however, the benefit should be applied as evenly as possible. In most cases, all employees should be given the opportunity to telecommute to avoid complaints about favoritism or discrimination. It may make more sense for you to choose a certain category of people to work from home. Receptionists, maintenance staff and crucial managers may not be the right employees to work remotely, so balance your inclusion criteria with your business needs. Don’t solely reserve telecommuting to those with caregiving responsibility, for example.
