Who should take communion?

Paul the Apostle reminds us that “. . . all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, . . .” (Romans 3:23) United Methodists take this to mean that every person, regardless of their age or station in life, is in need of forgiveness. Everyone is welcome to share in the sacrament, including those who are members of other Christian churches and those who have not yet been confirmed into membership. Children are welcome at God’s table, although it is suggested that parents take time to explain the significance of the sacrament to their children before allowing them to receive the elements.
