Who should obtain an ECA Digital Certificate?
The ECA certificate is a direct substitute for the physical signature on the certification and the affidavit. Consequently, the person who would sign the certification or affidavit on a paper filing is the person who must obtain the certificate for an e-filing. This is typically a corporate officer or individual and not the legal representative, although a legal representative may submit the completed e-filing once it has been digitally signed by the party.
