Who should not receive the meningococcal vaccines?
• People who had a serious reaction to a previous dose of the MCV4 vaccines or any of the components of the vaccines, including those who are known to be hypersensitive to diphtheria toxoid. • Menactra is contraindicated in individuals who have previously had Guillain-Barré Syndrome and is contraindicated for people who are known to be hypersensitive to latex. • Meningococcal immunization is not routinely recommended for children younger than 11 years of age unless they are known to be at increased risk for meningococcal infection. • People who are moderately or severely ill should consult with their physician before receiving any vaccine.
