Who should NOT receive the live attenuated H1N1 influenza vaccine?
The following groups are recommended not to receive nasal spray flu vaccines, including the 2009 H1N1 vaccine: • Children younger than 2 years of age • Pregnant women • People 50 years of age and older • Children under 5 years of age with a history of recurrent wheezing • Children or adolescents receiving long term aspirin therapy • People who have had Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS), a rare nervous system disorder, within 6 weeks of getting a flu vaccine • People who have a severe allergy to eggs • People with a medical condition that puts them at a higher risk for developing complications from the flu, such as those with chronic heart or lung disease (e.g., asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease); people with kidney disease or diabetes; people with medical conditions that weaken the immune system, such as HIV or persons who take medications that can weaken the immune system • Anyone with certain muscle or nerve disorders, such as cerebral palsy, that can lead to breathing or swa
