Who should I use as contacts, and what do they need to know?
Ideally, you should use someone who lives close enough to be able to respond if they receive an alert. You must tell them that they have been nominated, and explain how the alert system works and how to respond (BT provides Contact Cards in the Customer Information Pack for this purpose). You should ensure that their contact details are kept up to date in your online account. If your contacts are keyholders you should explain how to operate the monitoring system and allocate a User Code (see section 3 of the User Guide). Note that contacts should be advised to respond to all events with caution, particularly where a possible crime is suspected. Contacts should always call the emergency services if a crime is in progress.
