Anyone with a fulltime broadband internet connection (Cable, DSL, T1) should consider ViaTalk. Dialup internet users need not apply. ViaTalk requires a minimum of 128Kbps Upload and download speed to function properly. Most if not all Cable and DSL packages offer speeds above these requirements. Dialup on the other hand doesn’t even come close. I don’t know for sure but I highly suspect that satellite internet (DirecWay etc.) will not work either due to the high latency inherent in satellite communications. What makes ViaTalk better than my regular phone service ? Two words: Cost and Features. Cost: ViaTalk offers a flat fee service. This means that your monthly bill will always be the same (with the possible exception of international usage which is billed separately). I currently pay about $8.50 per month for my ViaTalk phone service. With a regular phone line, I can’t even get dial tone for that price. My $8.50 buys me unlimited usage within the United States and Canada. That’s righ
