Who should apply for the Educational Leadership (EDL) program?
EDL graduate programs prepare students for leadership positions in elementary and secondary schools; central office positions in curriculum, instruction, and administration; college teaching positions in administration and curriculum; research and leadership positions in foundations, social service agencies, and other educative institutions; and student affairs positions in higher education. Many, but not all, EDL graduate students have experience in K-12 schools or higher education. EDL graduate students in all of our programs come with a variety of backgrounds, but all share a commitment to improving educational practice and theory, an interest in studying and engaging in educational research, and professional and personal motivation. Applicants for doctoral programs need to have a master’s degree. Individual programs and professional licensure programs have different pre-prequisite requirements.
