Every Muslim (Submitter to Allah), who is adult and in possession of his faculties must observe Ramadan fast. It is compulsory. There are, however, few exempted cases as follows: • Women in menstruation or in child-birth bleeding should not fast. They should compensate the number of days missed by fasting in subsequent days. • Persons on sick bed or terminal illness should not fast. • Children under 10 years are exception for fasting. • If the person travels due to indispensable reasons he may not observe fast if the journey threatens a person’s health. It is his free will to observe. However he should perform restitution if he does not observe fast • Pregnant and nursing women may break the Ramadan fast but shall fast a number of days, equal to those missed, after pregnancy or nursing ceases.
