Suppose there were no civil authorities. A do as you please’ society. There would still probably be men who would kill you for having an affair with his wife. Or certainly for rape of his young daughter. Or if, after he worked and brought in food for his family, you should steal it from him. Animals have no such rules or laws and therefore, in the wild, they break many of our moral and ethical laws. If one animal has killed some food, and another is capable of taking it, he will do so. The strongest is the one which gets the female. So in the animal kingdom, it is often that of “might makes right”. But even they sometimes have ethics.
