The Legislative Council of UIL makes and votes on all UIL rules, including the pay scale for officials. The Legislative Council is a peer elected group of school superintendents. Officials are represented in this process historically (and going forward) by the Texas Association of Sports Officials and under the system being developed by UIL, would have an additional opportunity to present information to the Council through the UIL State Chapters Board for each sport division. Additionally, pending approval by the Commissioner of Education at the Texas Education Agency, the UIL Legislative Council recently approved the most sweeping pay scale increases for officials in the last 30 years.
