Who sent the very first Valentines Card – and why?
It is – surprisingly enough – alleged that it was St Valentine himself who sent the very first message that would only much later take the recognised form of a Valentine’s card. Legend has it that during his time in prison whilst awaiting execution, his guard’s young daughter used to visit him in his cell and that the two became firm friends.
