Who selects research projects for the MBP students?
All arrangements for research projects are made during the fall quarter of the first academic year directly between the student and NU faculty members participating in the Master of Biotechnology Program. The MBP faculty help students with this important task by organizing a series of presentations by the research faculty (as part of the MBP fall seminar) and by providing the students with general guidance on the choice of a research advisor. Students may seek research projects outside of the currently participating faculty as long as the projects are broadly related to biotechnology and involve learning practical laboratory skills. These “outside” projects require Program Director’s approval and lead to inclusion of the preceptor as part of the participating faculty.
