Who runs the Millennium Foundation?
The Board of the Millennium Foundation is chaired by Dr. Philippe Douste-Blazy, who has served both as Foreign and Health Minister in France. He currently is Under Secretary-General of the United Nations, Special Advisor on Innovative Financing for Development and the chairman of the Board of UNITAID. Dr. Bernard Salomé is the Managing Director of the Millennium Foundation. The Foundation is governed by a Board composed of representatives of participating Governments – the United Kingdom, France, Norway, Brazil, Chile, the Republic of Korea and a representative of the African Union. Other board members include representatives of NGOs working on malaria, tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS, communities living with diseases and the Gates Foundation. The UN World Health Organization also serves on the board as an observer.
