Who recognises the University of New South Wales Institute of Languages Certificate in TESOL?
The National ELICOS Accreditation Scheme (NEAS) recognises the Certificate in TESOL, in combination with a 3 year degree, as an appropriate TESOL qualification for teaching overseas students in Australia. Non-accredited colleges, or institutions offering short study tours may not require teachers to hold a first degree. The Department of Education does not recognise the certificate as an entry qualification to teach in Government secondary or primary schools. However some private schools may take the certificate into account when offering employment.
