Who qualifies for WIC?
The following individuals qualify for WIC: • Pregnant women who are at least six months pregnant, and for up to six weeks following the pregnancy. • Women who have given birth within the past six months. • Breast feeding women up to one year. • Infants until their first birthday. • Children up to the age of five. All of these applicants must be at or below 185% of the federal poverty guideline and be at nutritional risk. How do you apply? You must contact your local WIC agency. What is a “nutrition risk”? Those who at “nutrition risk,” may have medical or dietary conditions, anemia, suffer from being underweight, or have a history of poor pregnancy outcomes.
