Who Provides Occupational Therapy?
An Occupational Therapist (OTR) is a trained healthcare professional. They hold a Bachelors or Masters Degree and completion of a clinical internship under experienced therapists. Occupational Therapists are certified by successful completion of a national examination and are also licensed by the State of Illinois. The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) has an Associate Degree from a qualified program and has completed a designated number of hours in a clinical internship under qualified personnel. COTAs must pass a national certification examination and be licensed by the State of Illinois.
