John played rhythm guitar, harmonica and keyboard. Paul played left-hand bass and later wrote and played on keys. George played lead guitar and sitar (even before they met the Maharishi! He played it like a guitar until he met Ravi Shankar through the Maharishi’s people). Ringo has always been a drummer. Before Ringo, Pete Best was their drummer.
