Who played Maria in the Sound of Music?
Maria, the lead female character, was mainly played by Mary Martin on Broadway and in the film version, by Julie Andrews also known for the title role of (Mary Poppins) I saw the stage play performed by a Road Company in l962, it turned me off like a dead battery, Billed as a Musical Comedy, it had much music and very little comedy. It did have a cogitated anti-war line without gunplay, missing bodies, or air-raid sirens, which is , I guess an accomplishment.
