Who played Dorothy in The Wiz?
[b. March 26, 1944] played Dorothy Gale in the 1978 film The Wiz. Motown Records, for whom Ross previously had recorded as the lyric soprano voice of The Supremes, acquired the film rights to the Broadway play. The play and the flm were intended as African-American styled, updated versions of the original 1900 book edition, and 1939 film version, of The Wizard of Oz.
