Who persecuted the true New Testament Believers, the Christians, as they were called?
Nero, the Roman Emperor, blamed the Christians for the burning of Rome in 64 A.D. and began the first of ten persecutions the Christians were to receive at the hands of the Romans. (if you read Foxes Book of The Martyrs (newer translation) you will find that he blamed them for a fire that he himself started. The persecutions under his realm ended with using the Christians (ho would not denty their faith in Christ under severe torture)…he would place them on a high stake that lined the walkway to his complex and light them on fire…so they would have light to see by. He also literally threw them into the arena in Rome to watch the wild beasts tear them apart. He spared no child, woman, man – all who professed to believe in Jesus Christ and The Lord God.
