Who pays for the patient care costs?
Usually a patient’s insurance will cover all standard of care treatments such as exams, laboratory work, X-ray, etc. (standard of care is the routine care provided for a disease). All additional clinical trials related therapies or laboratory studies may be paid for by the sponsor of the clinical trial. They check the health of participants during the trial, give specific instructions for participating in the trial and guide them through the process. They monitor the participant carefully during the trial and stay in touch after the trial is completed. Some clinical trials involve more tests and doctor visits than the participant would normally have for an illness or condition. For all types of trials,
