Who pays for the Life Care Plan?
Most life care plans are requested by attorneys seeking to establish or refute economic damages during litigation. The attorney contracts with the Life Care Planner to produce the Life Care Plan on behalf of the client. Insurance companies also request life care plans, especially in conjunction with workers’ compensation injuries and Medicare Set-Asides. A Financial Planner may identify a potential need for a Life Care Plan when working disabled or chronically ill client. The Financial Planner will generally refer their client to the Nurse Life Care Planner. The financial client then contracts with the Nurse Life Care Planner to draft the Life Care Plan. The Nurse Life Care Planner provides the client with the Life Care Plan and provides the Financial Planner with a medical cost projection.
