Who pays for the book?
Usually the person who pays for the book is a parent or relation (this is certainly the case in primary schools). In our experience, leaver’s books tend to be bought by students who have saved their own money. Schools themselves often buy Yearbooks to use as marketing material, sending it out to prospective parents or on display in the foyer. Some private schools make a charge for the book in the school fees. Other purchasers include Alumni or, if the book has been made to mark a special occasion or anniversary, books have been sold at events to mark the occasion.
