Who pays for Amistad?
Amistad receives its major funding from the Maine Department of Behavioral and Developmental Services (BDS). Additional support comes from the United Way of Greater Portland, and the City of Portland. Because funding from BDS has remained level for more than seven years, we rely heavily on private contributions. In the past year, we have received support from the Maine Health Access Foundation (MeHAF), the Fisher Charitable Foundation, the Stephen and Tabitha King Foundation, and the CWG Foundation. In addition, many individuals and community groups contribute to Amistad.
