Who Paid For Obamas Harvard Education?
On the contrary, Obama has been very open about how he financed his education. He had some scholarships along the way and his family helped him, but he also used student loans. His Harvard education was nearly 100% financed by student loans. He has publicly stated this many times. When he and his wife married, they were both paying off their student loans from attending Harvard Law School. He wrote his first book, hoping that it would make enough to pay off his Harvard education, but the book didn’t do that well. When he became senator, he had bills to pay from his campaign (and an earlier unsuccessful congressional campaign), as well as all the student loans. He signed a three-book deal with a publisher and got a fat advance. When his second book (the first under the three-book deal) was published, it did well. Being the first black President of the Harvard Law Review hadn’t been enough to get people to buy his first book, but being the fifth black senator (the first in quite a while)
I guess that it probably part loan and part financial aid or scholarship. Considering he is 48, he would be at Harvard around 1980s. At the time, college cost was a lot cheaper than now, and there were plenty of financial aid offered. Also, Harvard is very well endowed. It is beneficial for the university to have a future American Idol in the student roster. And Harvard always make good investment. Think of how much more contribution the university will get if Obama becomes the President. That said, I don’t know for sure. Nobody ever mentioned about this.
Grants and student loans, as per his statement. There are literally thousands of different types of grants especially low income and for minorities for college education. You can also get a grant, all you have to do is do your research. Student loans are still available but are a little tighter now with the credit crunch and the Federal grants and loans division.
How exactly did Barack Obama pay for his Harvard Law School education? The way the Obama campaign has answered the question was simply hard work and student loans. But new questions have been raised about Obama’s student loans and Obama’s ties to a radical Muslim activist who reportedly was raising money for Obama’s Harvard studies during the years 1988 to 1991. The allegations first surfaced in late March, when former Manhattan Borough president Percy Sutton told a New York cable channel that a former business partner who was “raising money” for Obama had approached him in 1988 to help Obama get into Harvard Law School. In the interview, Sutton says he first heard of Obama about twenty years ago from Khalid Al-Mansour, a Black Muslim and Black Nationalist who was a “mentor” to the founders of the Black Panther party at the time the party was founded in the early 1960s. Sutton described al-Mansour as advisor to “one of the world’s richest men,” Saudi prince Alwaleed bin Talal. Prince A
