Who owns The Pier and The Pier Aquarium?
The Pier is owned by the City of St. Petersburg and is administered by the Downtown Facilities Management Department of the City. Urban Retail Properties, LLC is retained by the city to manage and market The Pier. The Pier Aquarium is a privately owned, not-for-profit organization governed by a board of directors and managed by an executive director. It has no direct affiliation with the City of St. Petersburg but receives a subsidy every year that helps pay the salaries of the Scientific Staff, student interns from the University of South Florida, Eckerd College, St. Petersburg College and the University of Tampa. It has no direct affiliation with Urban Retail Properties, LLC.
