Who Owns the Golf Course?
The Town of Dexter owns the Dexter Municipal Golf Course. A Course Manger supervises day-to-day operations of the Course. A Board of Directors, appointed by the Town Council, works in cooperation with the Course Manger to address operations, programs, and funding issues. The Board of Directors operates under a set of By-laws. The State of Maine became involved when the Town applied for and received a recreation grant that enabled the Town to purchase the golf course from William Nadeau, who was the owner of the Sunrise Acres Golf Club (which was the name of the course up until the early 1970’s).
