Houston is a major railroad center. Two freight railroads, the Union Pacific and the Burlington Northern & Santa Fe, connect Houston to the rest of the country; a third railroad, the Port Terminal Railroad Association, serves industries along the Ship Channel and connects with both UP and BNSF.
