490-acre Knowland Park is owned by the City of Oakland. Formerly know as Knowland State Arboretum and Park, the park was deeded by the State to the City of Oakland in 1975 for “public park purposes,” including the Oakland Zoo, which has existed in Knowland Park since the 1960s.
