Who originated Rock Roll?
Louis Jordan had been “Rock ‘n’ Rolling long before that musical genre became known as such. It was called back then as “Boogie-woogie”. He found success with this music from the late 1930 up to the early 1950s, and he became known as the “King of the Jukebox”. According to musical historians, he was the first and the greatest exponent of what was called the “Jump Blues”–one of the prototypes of what became to be known as “Rock ‘n’ Roll”. He’s often credited by many with either inventing it or providing the building blocks for it. He paved the way for Roy Brown, Wynonie Harris, Tiny Bradshaw and others. He also strongly influenced Bill Haley & His Comets–a comment coming out of Mr. Haley’s own mouth himself.
