Who needs to be tested in a paternity test?

Ideally the mother, child and alleged father should all be tested. We know the mother contributed one-half of her DNA to the child, which is matched up to the child’s genetic profile. The remaining DNA must then match the alleged father. However, we can obtain accurate results without mother’s sample if she is not available.
