Who Needs an Oxygen Concentrator?
The human body needs a certain level of oxygen in their bloodstream to function properly. An oxygen concentrator is for people with certain health conditions that cause an insufficient amount of oxygen to be obtained through normal breathing. According to the FDA, patients suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) most commonly use oxygen concentrators. COPD is a collective term that refers to a category of lung disease in which airflow in and out of the lungs is obstructed. COPD includes Emphysema, Chronic Bronchitis, Bronchiectasis, and Asthma. Central Sleep Apnea patients who frequently experience sleep disruptions may use oxygen concentrators to enhance sleep quality. Patients suffering from Hypoxia or Pneumonia may also use an oxygen concentrator to increase their blood-oxygen levels.
